BrainyBrief is a Chrome extension that helps users summarize webpages, translate summaries, ask questions about page content, save summaries, view summary history, and use AI-powered screenshot analysis.
This Privacy Policy explains what information BrainyBrief collects, how it is used, and how we protect it.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you sign in with Google, we may receive basic account information such as your name, email address, profile image, and authentication status. This is used to create and manage your BrainyBrief account.
Webpage Content You Choose to Summarize
When you click “Summarize This Page,” BrainyBrief extracts readable text from the active webpage and sends it securely to our backend so an AI model can generate a summary.
BrainyBrief does not continuously monitor your browsing. Page content is processed only when you choose to use a BrainyBrief feature.
Questions and AI Chat Content
When you use Ask BrainyBrief, your question, relevant page text, current summary, and source snippets may be sent to our backend to generate an answer.
Screenshot Content
If you use Capture & Ask, the selected screenshot area is sent to our backend for AI analysis. Screenshots are processed only when you intentionally capture and submit them.
Saved Summaries and History
BrainyBrief may store saved summaries and cached summary history locally in your browser. This helps you reopen summaries without regenerating them.
Usage and Credit Information
We store usage events, credit balances, subscription plan status, referral information, and related account metadata in our backend to enforce plan limits, prevent abuse, and provide paid features.
Payment Information
Payments and subscriptions are handled by Stripe. BrainyBrief does not store your full credit card number. Stripe may process billing details according to its own privacy policy.
How We Use Information
We use collected information to:
- Provide webpage summaries, translations, AI answers, screenshot analysis, saved summaries, and history.
- Authenticate users and manage accounts.
- Enforce Lite, Plus, and Pro plan limits.
- Process subscriptions and credit purchases.
- Improve reliability, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot issues.
- Provide referral credits when applicable.
AI Processing
BrainyBrief uses third-party AI providers, including Google Gemini, through our secure backend. Page text, questions, summaries, and submitted screenshots may be sent to these providers only for the purpose of generating the requested AI response.
We do not sell your webpage content, summaries, screenshots, or questions.
Data Sharing
We may share limited data with service providers necessary to operate BrainyBrief, including:
- Supabase for authentication, account data, usage records, and backend services.
- Google Gemini for AI processing.
- Stripe for payment and subscription processing.
- Vercel or similar hosting providers for billing success/cancel pages and website hosting.
These providers process data only as needed to deliver BrainyBrief’s functionality.
Google API Limited Use Disclosure
BrainyBrief’s use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Data Retention
Account, usage, plan, referral, and credit information may be retained while your account is active or as needed for legal, security, billing, and operational purposes.
Saved summaries and cached history stored locally in your browser can be removed by clearing extension/browser storage or uninstalling the extension.
